Bosma - Aegis smart lock
The Team at Ink Studios, worked with Bosma USA on the design of their new smart door lock. Many smart home devices look similar, and we wanted to create something that was unique but also felt like part of the home. We wanted to create a device that looked appropriate, intuitively communicated all necessary information and then disappeared into the home environment.
Lighting: We knew light would be a valuable asset to communicate feedback however we wanted to move away from traditional flashing LED rings. We envisioned a subtle halo, which provides back lighting to communicate essential status.
Shape: We wanted to create something that communicated strength and was completely unique to Bosma. This led us to an octagonal profile, which not only exudes strength but also provides surface facets to assist turning.
